Double underscores are reserved by the C standard (https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20230109-00/?p=107685 https://devblogs.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20230109-00/?p=10...), so it's a measure to avoid collisions with user-defined types.
