Was reading about the Wright brothers recently. It still blows my mind how rapidly we went from the invention of powered flight to powered flight on another plant
- lesuorac 2y agoExponential growth is wacky stuff. Although the thing that bothers me is that basing stuff on AI isn't really standing on the shoulders of giants. One big thing that held back human flight was that the published tables for lift were wrong so everybody that was using them couldn't fly even when they "should've" been able to (according to the wrong data). The Wright brothers had a good idea to re-compute the table and came up with different answers and were able to build a working plane.
