It was a great out-of-the-box experience for my new MacBook Pro.
- unsnap_biceps 2y agoFWIW, I don't have the same behavior. I have a large tv hooked up to my caldigit TS3+ that is turned on and off when I want to watch a movie and I just tested it and it continues to work just fine.
- teaearlgraycold 2y agoFrom the other commenter it sounds like it’s an issue with the built in hdmi port on the pro laptops.
- therein 2y agoHere is part of the backtrace in case it brings it to the attention of someone: https://imgur.com/ycyVIzF https://imgur.com/ycyVIzF I already sent it to Apple but who knows when they'll maybe look at it. Panic at IOPortDPDelegate.cpp:256.
- sleepybrett 2y agoI do not have this problem, I do this every night.

- chris_wot 2y agoWhy would you think that?
- worthless-trash 2y agoBecause to some people. From their viewpoint apple can do no wrong.
- sleepybrett 2y agoIt's not. I'm explaining that you might have faulty hardware or potentially some software that does not love hdmi losing signal. I have a primary monitor hooked up via tb->dp and a secondary plugged into the hdmi port. When I stop working and swap to my personal computer I often shut off the secondary monitor all together and then change the input of my primary monitor. It is not kernel panicing.
- therein 2y agoNot trolling, it panics for me. It came with 15.1.1. Let me see if I have a photo of the panic. If I'll post the backtrace. https://imgur.com/ycyVIzF https://imgur.com/ycyVIzF
- chris_wot 2y agoOh man… we have the same model CalDigit at work and it doesn’t panic but it does give refresh issues on the second screen.
- radicality 2y agoIt obviously shouldn’t panic, but have you looked at the dumps for what could be the cause? Or perhaps try a different cable and/or different hdmi device? It’s still a bug, but perhaps it’s a non-spec-compliant hdmi cable or device?
- tonyedgecombe 2y agoInterfacing with external monitors (or at least 3rd party ones) seems to be a weak point for Apple.
- randyrand 2y agoBeing 'upgraded' to macOS 15 is the worst part of buying a new macbook pro. I counted 12 bugs during the first hour of use. Makes we want to start a computer company.
