>Instead of being detected by radio waves, the drone reportedly was illuminated by electromagnetic radiation emitted by a Starlink satellite flying above the Philippines.
What they are describing is passive radar, also known as parasitic radar. It's not a new technology. European and US manufacturers have made it in the past, but there has been relatively little market for it because enemies of the West did not have stealth aircraft. It can be used to use radiation from mobile phone masts and satellites, but the signal is weaker and requires more signal processing.
Stealth aircraft are shaped to work against monostatic radars. The stealth does not completely disappear with multi-static or other types of radar, but it is greatly reduced.
These techniques work primarily for search radars. They reveal the approximate location of stealth aircraft. They don't work so well as targeting radars, but the search is the main problem. With new long-range IR or dual-head missiles, you can direct the missile towards the target until it picks the IR signature.
