This sort of intuitively makes sense to me, it’s not the cost of transit that’s the limiting factor, it’s the convenience. The transit center closest to my house is hardly in walking distance of anything and has a parking lot that fills up by 6am.
If the parking was free and plentiful? That would probably help.
