It'd have been so wonderful id MD Data wasn't sabotaged into irrelevance. ZIP disks were never this cool.

Can you tell me more about what you are describing regarding MD Data? I'm unaware of how it went down. But, yeah, these all look so cool.

The format was saddled by complicated usage restrictions designed to prevent music piracy - some audio recorders wouldn't store data, or read music as data, and so on. All formats that came up in that timeframe to compete with floppies, Iomega's ZIP, Syquest's HD-like cartridges, and 3M's Superdisk ended up superseded by cheap CD recorders.

Thanks for that! It was a pretty crazy time. I had Zip drive add an my data disappeared with the dreaded click of death.
