As the parent of a deaf baby, should I give her an implant to help her hear?

Deaf parents are afraid that their child will--once hearing--no longer relate and connect with them in some way they've come to expect as the normal arrangement. I sympathize with the fear, but ultimately it means putting the parents' emotional comfort over the child's own well-being and autonomy.
