Was there a secure enclave that determined people didn't find bugs in? I remember the modding community around old Motorola phones before Android was a thing, they obviously had a secure loader, write once memory to prevent downgrades, signed firmwares and all that, yet each and every version was bugged in one way or another. From sofisticated ones to "just keep writing despite the driver signaling error" kind of ones.
