Probably only because we reported it better.
- micromacrofoot 2y agoit's not, it's been years since, it's not a mystery
- zug_zug 2y agoI don't think you understand. USA had exponentially higher reported deaths because we tested probably 10 to 100x as much as your average country.
- micromacrofoot 2y agoI understand very well, you're spreading common misinformation that was debunked years ago. When we look at the overall death rate during the pandemic (i.e., completely disregarding covid tests), it's still true that the US had a much higher increase in deaths than most of the world. Even if you limit this to places where reporting is fairly accurate (the first world, or even just rich European countries), it's still true. The "because we tested more" line is complete nonsense, we can literally count the people missing and end up with a very similar result.
- zug_zug 2y agoSo you're saying the US outpaced areas that didn't have vaccine and didn't even take social distancing seriously? Are we controlling for age and health of the population then?
- peterfirefly 2y agoMorbid obesity and type 2 diabetes are risk factors. Americans are (in)famous for both.
