Yeah, I've always prefered crisp pixel art like what you would see on a Gameboy screen.
It's nice to have CRT filters and nonlinear scaling available as an option, but I'll never use them. If the game can't scale up perfectly, then I'd rather just have black bars on the edges than making everything blurry or adding extra pixels where they don't belong.
- hexo 2y agoNone of the blurred versions looks good to me. I've always preferred the crisp version too.
- msephton 2y agoDid Game Boy really have crisp pixels? It's more of a lattice/grid with both vertical and horizontal "scan" lines. Plus ghosting and bloom.
- itsameta4 2y agoThe GameBoy Pocket had a really shockingly crisp screen with very deep blacks. The original GameBoy was quite blurry, especially when scrolling.
- Narishma 2y agoI don't know which Gameboy you played, but the original was blurry as hell as soon as anything moves.
