- ksec 2y agoFew notes of thoughts. Some fascinating stats. >Global Internet traffic grew 17.2% in 2024. Google maintained its position as the most popular Internet service overall. Globally, nearly one-third of mobile device traffic was from Apple iOS devices. Internet continue to grow at such rapid pace. The faster it is the more we use. And considering the long tail of tech I wont be surprised if we will double 2024 traffic by 2030. >Globally, nearly half of web requests used HTTP/2, with 20.5% using HTTP/3. I thought that half of web request were on HTTP/2 was much higher than I thought. >Globally, we found that 65.8% of requests came from Google’s Chrome browser across 2024, and that just 15.5% came from Apple’s Safari browser. Microsoft Edge 6.9%, Mozilla Firefox 4%. This includes mobile and Firefox still getting 4% isn't too bad at all. I wish Cloudflare could tell us percentage of Firefox on Desktop. >Aggregated across 2024, 28.5% of IPv6-capable requests were made over IPv6. I still dont think IPv6 is the right trade off or solution. >The top 10 countries ranked by Internet speed all had average download speeds above 200 Mbps. >41.3% of global traffic comes from mobile devices. In nearly 100 countries/regions, the majority of traffic comes from mobile devices. >20.7% of TCP connections are unexpectedly terminated before any useful data can be exchanged.
