- instig007 2y agohow did you check it?
- scott_w 2y agoHere's a news report: https://edition.cnn.com/2022/02/26/europe/ukraine-zelensky-evacuation-intl/index.html https://edition.cnn.com/2022/02/26/europe/ukraine-zelensky-e... I'll translate the quote to your native language for you: Мне нужны боеприпасы, а не поездка I apologise if it's not exact, I used Google Translate.
- instig007 2y ago> I'll translate the quote to your native language for you that's very presumptious of you > Here's a news report are you saying that CNN knows about the conditions and preferences of Ukrainians better than Ukrainians in Kiyv? "You might want to stop taking [CNN] as your news source."
- scott_w 2y ago> are you saying that CNN knows about the conditions and preferences of Ukrainians better than Ukrainians in Kiyv? I'm saying CNN knows more about the conditions and preferences of the Ukrainian people than you do. I've yet to see a shred of evidence for any of your insinuations.
- instig007 2y ago> I'm saying CNN knows more about the conditions and preferences of the Ukrainian people than you do delusional indeed, and a cowardly one > I've yet to see a shred of evidence for any of your insinuations. I'm yet to see you learn proper English. When shall I expect you arriving in Kiyv to volunteer straight into the war trenches?
- scott_w 2y agoWhen you prove to me that Ukraine wants a peace agreement that involves Russia annexing the entire country to be their personal torture chamber.
- instig007 2y agoit's right there, in the post that you've conveniently ignored for two days: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42364178 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42364178
- scott_w 2y ago> When you prove to me that Ukraine wants a peace agreement that involves Russia annexing the entire country to be their personal torture chamber. Try again. Your post only suggests a slight majority of Kyiv residents want a "ceasefire." That's not "capitulation." I'll let you know that I'm British so I'm familiar with news papers/sites putting up polls that tell the reader what they want the reader to hear so, just like you disregard sources, I disregarded this straw poll.
- instig007 2y agoI think I should be insisting on sending you on the battlefield to spare those who expressed their preference to cease fire: https://news-obozrevatel-com.translate.goog/ukr/society/bilshist-ukraintsiv-pidtrimuyut-peregovori-schodo-zamorozki-vijni-rezultati-opituvannya.htm?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://news-obozrevatel-com.translate.goog/ukr/society/bils...
- sabbaticaldev 2y agowhat were the options given? Boris Johnson didn’t allow ukraine to negotiate with russia but at the time everybody thought it would be a walk in the park for NATO
- scott_w 2y agoBoris Johnson is not the President of Ukraine. He has no power to force or prevent a negotiation with Russia. Just in case you're confused, here's a link describing who the current President of Ukraine is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_Ukraine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_Ukraine
- sabbaticaldev 2y agothat’s why you guys lose elections and scream “russia stole it!” completely out of touch of reality like a reality distortion field. screaming it louder won’t make you right.
- severino 2y agoAre you sure about that? When Russia annexed Crimea firing a couple of shots in 2014, we couldn't see all that horror you talk about, so I don't think it would be what would happen. In fact, there's a lot of people in Eastern Ukraine that has been hoping for Russia to start this military operation. OTOH, we have records of killings and rapes by American military personnel in Iraq when the US invaded the country back in 2003. And they did that unimpeded. Maybe you supported that invasion.
- dralley 2y ago>In fact, there's a lot of people in Eastern Ukraine that has been hoping for Russia to start this military operation. There were some, perhaps 1% to 2% of the population. There was not "a lot" and there never was.

- scott_w 2y ago> No, you're not sure. You don't know what happened there, as it was not possible to conduct a serious investigation, and I'm not sure we will ever know. Yes, I am 100% sure because the reporting was widespread, accurately conducted, and the Russians were widely condemned. Sexual violence continues in Ukraine: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/29/carved-on-bodies-and-souls-russias-use-of-male-sexual-torture-in-ukraine https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/29/carved-on-bodi... In fact, I'll save myself the effort and just give you a full list to read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_violence_in_the_Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine#Citations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_violence_in_the_Russian... > I've never been to Moscow nor Russia I think you should visit, I hear it's lovely this time of year.

- talldayo 2y agoIt's time to double down and hope Russia gives up Crimea like they just abandoned Syria. Even Donald Trump is not stupid enough to miss an opportunity to play his enemies against one another.
