The Welrod has been getting a bunch of press in the last couple days because of speculation that it was used in the United Healthcare shooting. Noted Gun Expert Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons has opined that it is definitely not[1], but it's an interesting piece of history nonetheless, and a ton of people have probably heard the term without having any idea of what it means.

- rolph 2y agolooked like a pertinent reference. agreed its likely not one of these, used in this case, but similar geometry. it is grainy but to me it looked like a left hand, suppressed semiautomatic, operating undergassed and consequently not fully cycling the action requiring manual intervention
- numpad0 2y agoWelrod and its clones are bolt action. There's a knob at the end that needs to be twisted, pulled, then pushed back in and twisted back to lock again. They're also rather tubular looking, ironically unmistakable at this point. Any suppressed mag-fed handgun will have a similar geometry as a Welrod/VP9, like how every laptop will look like a MacBook.
