James Goetz is a partner at Sequoia and joined the board in November 2019. He has previously served on networking-focused boards. He has a degree in electrical engineering, is likely semi-technical, and understands the industry. He’s relatively new but likely does not have a technical background. He’s been on the board long enough to be partially to blame. I crossed paths with Jim Goetz at Accel because of the company Vital Signs that he started. I am not sure why they say "but likely does not have a technical background" because I can attest that he clearly did. Weird.
