- dang 2y agoWe've moved the comments moved to https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42309429 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42309429, which has that URL. (404media.co is banned on HN because its articles are behind a signup wall.)
- nmjohn 2y agoWhy are other news sources which also have paywalls not banned? (nytimes, wsj, bloomberg, financial times, etc)
- tptacek 2y agoPaywalls are fine on HN as long as there's a reliable linkable bypass.
- nmjohn 2y agoOne of the standard link bypasses seems to work here[0] though. Is that not a reliable workaround here? [0]: https://archive.is/BYCjp https://archive.is/BYCjp
- tptacek 2y agoIf we're flagkilling stories with workable paywall bypasses, you should ping hn@ycombinator.com (don't assume they see the thread), and I'd expect them to unkill it.
- dredmorbius 2y agoDang's guidance: <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10178989 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10178989> (9 years old and standing.) If you find that a previously-available workaround is no longer effective, do feel free to notify mods. And as tptacek notes, if a workaround does work (and reliably, some are only very occasionally effective), you can also alert mods. Mods can and should be reached by email at <hn@ycombinator.com>.
