I saw a few of these posts and dug up my 5MP Sony digicam from ~2006. The LCD had a few artifacts, but it still worked. Unfortunately, the memory card was in bad shape, and it took a really long time to boot, making it useless as a "point-and-shoot". Without the card, it had enough onboard storage for 15-20 pics. Took a few pics, couldn't see myself using it regularly with the terrible quality and the horrible sync story, so it was a pretty short experiment.
