Hopefully, people will actually read them.
- clown_strike 2y agoIt won't matter if people are too unintelligent to understand it. The message has effectively been lost for a few hundred years. The Simpsons movie demonstrated it best-- Grandpa has a heart attack or something at church, Marge asks "what do we do?" and Homer desperately flips through a Bible "looking for answers, but I can't find any!" People take it too literally and subversives overemphasize the Old Testament, especially in pointing out "inconsistencies." It's an extended fairy tale, not a historical record. Nobody walks on water, but anything is possible if you believe [in stagecraft]. Getting cursed by plague and loss of family is easier to handle if you reframe the situation as a test of your willpower ("faith"). We aren't meant to do what Biblical figures did, only to think like they did to solve problems. If someone steals your glove, give them the other not because you're a chump, but because you don't fucking need one if you don't have the other. The Old Testament is written by Jews, for a Jewish audience. Christianity is about Christ, a whistleblowing Jew, whose entire schism from Judaism existed to save gentiles from exploitation and corruption by said Jews (he had a lot to say about the Synagogue of Satan). He was "one of the Good Ones" and was ultimately killed for disrupting their operations, like every aid worker and journalist working to save Palestinians from Jewish violence in Gaza. Someone should have told him that hashtags have no leaders to crucify or drone-strike. As a martyr, the only way he can be killed again is by publishers watering down the message and shills shifting focus onto neurotic Old Testament nonsense (before he even existed) to induce confusion and foment violence against arbitrary groups that is decidedly against the namesake of the Christian religion. Amalek Lives Matter!
