Also, I’ll let you in on a secret, after about 5 years most people are starting to plateau in a field or singular area of knowledge, barring a few exceptions. After that what tends to separate people is the breadth of the their knowledges, they move on to other topics and broaden, or they deep dive one specialty of their specialty and continue to grow. If you can’t find learning at work, you will have to do it outside of work or move on to a new job. Your education is your responsibility, and as an engineer or scientist you should always be trying to learn something new, even if it’s outside your expertise, or just a hobby you are passionate about.
