Once
- philipswood 2y agoSo there is: * Software as a possession - pay once to "own" it. * Software as a service - subscribe to it. * Software as an utility - rent it. I'd prefer to see more software as an utility.
- Ukv 2y agoWhat's the difference between software as a service and software as a utility? Not familiar with the latter and can't find much on it.
- philipswood 2y agoSaaS is a subscription. Software as an utility is metered, similar to how most cloud costs work. You're billed based on a usage metric. The original cloud vision from Sun and others was called grid or utility computing.
