Rough notes on learning Wardley Mapping
- svilen_dobrev 2y agosometime ago i have bookmarked (from HN? can't remember) a wardley mapping illustrated over some part of IBM's life . Maybe it will be of interest to someone: https://juliusgamanyi.com/2020/06/25/wardley-maps-illustrated-through-gerstner-part-3-loop-2/ https://juliusgamanyi.com/2020/06/25/wardley-maps-illustrate... p.s. it would be interesting to see such a map applied to common software things (languages, notions, paradigms, domains(?), etc) of recent 10-20-50 years.. and how they moved in time, e.g. snapshot each 10 years. And, how the notion of software engineer & all related roles evolved..
- rahimnathwani 2y agoI've seen Wardley Maps come up on HN now and again, but honestly I've struggled to understand how and when to use them. Have any of you found them particularly useful for thinking about or communicating your startup strategy?

- boomskats 2y agoFWIW, rather than going for the wikipedia page first, I would recommend skimming the linked post and picking one of the introductory entrypoints the author lists. The wiki page is fairly dry, and almost all of the resources listed do a better job of explaining why Wardley maps exist and what problem they solve. Plus this post is great.
- brudgers 2y agoI tried some of the links. The links I tried were youtube videos. Wikipedia told me the basics in less time than needed to get the skip ads button. What in the world is a Wardley Map was all I was trying to know. I was not looking for something to watch on youtube.
