Guarantee you that most of them would quickly drop that unwritten oath if it was their country getting invaded. I've visited Ukraine a few times since the full scale invasion started. Pretty much event segment of society openly supports killing Russians to stop the invasion. In fact, buying drones for military units is the "default" charitable cause. For example, I was at a small music event full of hipsters where the proceeds of all the ticket sales and a charity auction were going to buy a military unit more offensive drones.
