I think google wave was really fucking close; if it had been backwards compatible (to a degree) it would have been a headshot.
- leephillips 14y agoThere were some email interop tools built on top of it, including an email notification system from Google. I think it was an excellent solution to several problems, but the default client was just too heavy and slow.
- lunarscape 14y agoThey also had a marketing problem. If they had simply called it "Gmail 2.0" or similar I think people may have used it more. I hope Apache Wave gets more traction. It's promising but I'm doubtful of its progress.
