A bit paranoid, really: if you're the sort of person who's likely to wind up in the 13% that is the Outer Party (Venkatesh Rao's "Clueless"), the hands of the powers-that-be, maybe the world of 1984 doesn't sound good, but from the perspective of the 87%, the Inner Party members and proles, whether Oceanian or Eastasian, what is there to complain about?
