I agree there should be a common api. The sheer number of dialects with SQL contributes to a lot of issues with ORMs. But SQL is definitely not something designed for computers to only write or compile another language into (which is what the OP is promoting).

Yeah. I wonder if something like GlueSQL or the IndexedDB layer of most browsers could be used as such an API.
