People are hating on this, but I largely agree, or at least I agree more than the common advice of "just enjoy college!".
College is the one time in your life that you have all the time in the world at your disposal, purely to focus on your studies and (in the case of Berklee) master your craft. You might as well make the most of it. Obviously you don't want to become a complete social hermit, but I think most people swing way too far the other direction.
There's an old proverb:
> it is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.
which I think is kind of applicable here, albeit to academics/craft, rather than physical strength.

- santoshalper 2y agoI don't think it's hate, exactly. Derek is a well-loved guy around here for good reason. I just think people are tired of hearing that the key to success is to work themselves to death.
