- benreesman 2y agoReal patriots of Silicon Valley love what this place can be at its best, we want it to self-police and generally use its effectively incalculable power for the unambiguous greater good. We want it to recover from this weird seizure. The current crop of leadership is so vulgar and creatively bankrupt and insular and numb that they will not honor anything but a credible threat of direct personal loss of power or prestige and anyone who really loves HN or The Internet wants that threat to be assembled and never used. We were here before it was especially lucrative, we’re still here now that it’s precarious and not all that lucrative and not all that much fun anymore because we know that when the bad element ages out, we’ll still be here because we fucking love doing this.
