So KS wouldn't applicable to Dwarf Fortress?

  Perhaps not if it was worded support DF development for a year but perhaps if it was reworded pay for the development of a tightly integrated graphical interface for DF[1] then it sounds like a distinct project with clear objectives. Perhaps the developer was planning to do this work anyway but pitched as a project I believe its well within KS territory. [1] example only
