- openrisk 2y agonot sure if its the server traffic or browser limitations but zooming and panning are quite slow and somewhat dent the awesomeness of this.
- Thorrez 2y agoI don't experience those problems.
- burnt-resistor 2y agoWhile it works, the resolution is underwhelming and there's no scale.
- ballenf 2y agoWould be great to see an earth or moon or country map outline for scale.
- belter 2y agoThe Earth is...Slightly smaller, than one of the darker spots you see on the visible radiation image. The first one from the left...
- dredmorbius 2y agoThe Sun's diameter is 109 times that of Earth, though you might as well round up to 110, or down to 100. 1.4 * 10^6 km vs. 14 * 10^3 km.
- RicoElectrico 2y agoIs this a solution they rolled on their own? Cause it's abysmal. I've seen Leaflet being used for gigapixel images and it's great, even if it seems unorthodox.
- jraph 2y agoLeaflet is actually listed at [1], I believe it's totally orthodox :-) [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Image_Interoperability_Framework#Partial_list_of_software_that_supports_IIIF_APIs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Image_Interopera...
- Thorrez 2y agoOpenSeadragon, the one they're using, is also listed there. First on the list.
- Thorrez 2y agoThey're using OpenSeadragon hosted on a codepen. https://openseadragon.github.io/ https://openseadragon.github.io/ https://codepen.io/Kimtaro88/embed/JjgLyJg/ee2ebbe7041869032ac6f7880c634359?default-tab=result&theme-id=51724" https://codepen.io/Kimtaro88/embed/JjgLyJg/ee2ebbe7041869032...
- designed 2y agoIf you scroll down to the image carousel/gallery and click on an image, it directs you to a page where you can download a high-res jpeg (~100mb for the ultraviolet one).
