- rightbyte 2y agoI don't think Yanukovych knew there would be violent riots with rightwing larpers in funny looking helmets. In hindsight, he should obviously have taken the deal he couldn't refuse instead.

- michaelmrose 2y agoHe was removed from parliament unanimously after trying to violently suppress the protests and killing over 100 of his own people
- rightbyte 2y agoI know. He was bad. The effect of ousting him was bad. Everything was bad. If the parlament was concerned with killing their own people they should have fronted some sleazy social democrat that made everyone equaly pissed off and unhappy instead of going yolo nationalism.
- michaelmrose 2y agoAnything other than ceding their nation to fascists would have been insufficient. Letting Hitler take Poland didn't prevent conflict.
- rightbyte 2y agoI think you mean Czechoslovakia? As soon as you got fascist militias roaming around and you can't quench them, you are screwed. I don't think ceding to them was the way to go. They are essentially warlords and those are destabilizing for tge central government. It is a bad idea to cooperate with them due to having a common enemy in the separatists. Also these fascists are ideologically accelerationists, not reactionaries like in e.g. Spain.
