The whip-poor-will has been an omen of death for centuries
- taylodl 2y agoI heard whip-poor-wills all the time while growing up, but I haven't heard one in a while. Then I saw in the article where they said the population has declined by 70% since the 1970s. I've never heard the lore that they're an omen of death. I always enjoyed their song.
