  There is unimaginably large economic incentive to keep the status quo and effectively zero to change it. The GHGs already emitted aren’t going anywhere even if the world were net zero tomorrow. I think it’s time to start being realistic and look at ways to mitigate the damage. That means moving people away from disaster zones, building up food/crop/aid/water reserves, and upgrading infrastructure to be much more resilient. We should abandon the idea that the ship is turning around this century or far more people are going to die.
