Anybody know if Messages has improved? The beta I'm using is buggy as hell.
- akulbe 14y agoVery much so!
- dguaraglia 14y agoSorry, that didn't clarify much. Is "very much so buggy as hell" or "very much so fixed"? I'm confused :(
- sneak 14y agoVery much fixed. Apple doesn't ship crap software these days.
- mkaltenecker 14y agoUhm, Podcasts App? Lion?
- sneak 14y agoI love both. They're incredibly polished, work fantastically, and were crafted with very fine attention to detail. Perhaps you don't like the details they focused on, fine, but if you think these are crap software, you don't know actual crap software. I encourage you to buy a cheap consumer embedded NAS to learn.
- mitchty 14y agoThe podcasts app doesn't even sync podcasts in ios 6 beta 2. It may be visually polished, but complete it is not in its current form.
- mkaltenecker 14y agoVisually polished? They stretched a font! That’s unacceptable. A deadly sin. You don’t do that. Ever.
- pooriaazimi 14y agoPodcasts is so buggy and slow on my iPhone 4 that it's literally unusable. The animations are about 7 frames per second.
- rangibaby 14y agoIf "these days" means since yesterday, sure, I'll give them a chance. /edit to clarify, 99.9% of the software they ship has at least a few interesting bugs. Just have a look at their changelogs for 10.x.1 :-)
- DeepDuh 14y agoOne question about messages: Does it only work with iMessages or does it actually integrate my SMS when the iPhone is in the same network?
- paupino_masano 14y agoIt only works with iMessages. You're right though: SMS functionality (somehow) would be pretty awesome.
- DeepDuh 14y agoNot only awesome, it's the only reason why I would want to use this. Lets say I hear my iPhone buzzing in my backpack. I know I have my iMessages synched to my mac. Now the guessing game begins - should I pick the iPhone or wait until it has been synched? How long should I wait? Nevermind, what was I doing right now? Absolutely useless, unless you have started some kind of Apple religion and all your contacts have iPhones.
- sneak 14y agoIt's been announced for iOS 6 that you can register your phone number under your Apple ID so that phone-number iMessages will appear on your Macs and iPads.
- sneak 14y agoIt's vastly better in the DPs. They haven't updated the beta _at all_ since it was released months and months ago.
- lobster_johnson 14y agoBut still no MSN integration, right? I still have some MSN contacts that forces me to stick to Adium.
- Zev 14y agoiChat never had MSN support. However, there is a new plugin framework in Mountain Lion that would let someone write a MSN plugin for Messages.app.
- matthewlyle 14y agoI use this: http://cocoon.drinkbrainjuice.com/ http://cocoon.drinkbrainjuice.com/. It's in free beta right now.
- rangibaby 14y agoI think Apple has made a lot of improvements at their end. I no longer get red badges that won't go away(!) for whatever reason.
