Bcachefs Changes Rejected Reportedly Due to CoC, Kernel Future "Uncertain"
- not_your_vase 2y agoLooks like the submissions with the Patreon link (which is the source of the story) are getting dead... Find this an important sign of governance change in the kernel, even if we see only one side of the story

- rurban 2y agoThere is a huge drama lurking. Kent was very uncivilized, but did not behave worse than Linus, who is saying such things ("get your head examined") every other day. So when they now block Kent, there will be no bcachefs fixes, and there will be a huge leadership discussion, worse than before. Which could destroy the project as a whole as we know it. Many other projects died the very same way. A CoC is a huge risk.
- rurban 2y agoAnd here is the bcachefs ban hammer https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-CoC-Bcachefs-6.13 https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-CoC-Bcachefs-6.13 for a full release cycle. They are accepting bugs in a file system for insulting a stupid developer, who suggested to let the kernel crash on errors.
