The '4 socket'ness of this seems to be the really curious thing.
- touisteur 2y agoYeah they've refrained from going past 2 on all Zen stuff and here we are. What a thing.
- rbanffy 2y ago768 threads ought to be enough for anyone.
- rbanffy 2y agoAs the article points out, it looks like the fabled MI300C. Impractical as it'd be, I'd love to see a workstation based on one of these. It's more or less a computer on a single chip.
- ChainOfFools 2y ago> It's more or less a computer on a single chip. How does this chip, and your wonderfully whimsical mega SoC implementation of it, compare to the claims (and the even more fantastical dreadnought-class workstation scenario) of the Cerebras WSE3?
- rbanffy 2y agoThe WSE3 is very different - it has no shared memory between the processing units - and would require a different, and very interesting, distributed OS. A MI300A can immediately run Linux.
