I would initially argue compatibility on this one, but it doesn't appear like IE7 is supported (my only non-HTML5 browser I have available at the moment). Perhaps they intend do go that route at some point?

(One of the authors here.) Correct - for input widgets that have a clear equivalent, we're planning to switch to HTML5 form elements eventually.
