- keepamovin 2y agoHope that's changing. A couple years ago there was this delusion about the persistence of American power, and abject denial that it could be challenged in any way. It was like a compensatory response. I advocated people see China clearly, but they wanted to insist it was on the brink of a collapse - pure self-congratulation that neuters any potential response or rational analysis required for such. Denial, basically. Hopefully with greater awareness, and Trump's presidency, there will be increased focus on how to push back -- rather than living in either denial, or a defeatism that assumes the ship is already sinking, so why try to right it? Just profit as much as possible before it falls. Which is disgusting, but seemed to encapsulate some policy choices. Anyhow - thanks, Chump! :)
