As a official representative of the Nordics, I truly don’t care
- Arnt 2y agoAgree entirely. Weird question.
- hitekker 2y agoIt feels like ethnic anxieties have spiked since the election. Particularly among the prosperous with luxury time & beliefs. However, that might just be my perception.
- pfannkuchen 2y agoApologies for the esoteric view, it may warrant further explanation. My point is that holding Nordic ethnicities as being superior to others was a controversial take that was popular among a set of early to mid 20th century people who are today regarded as basically the definition of evil in common western culture. People who are in this camp, that nordicism is wrong and evil and a direct source of many past horrors, unthinkingly mimic unique physical traits of Nordic people, without making the connection that they are engaging in a (very mild) flavor of that same nordicism themselves. As a person of mixed heritage at this granularity, with some Nordic and some not, some blond haired blue eyed relatives and others not, I am not for it or against it, I just find it to be a rather curious juxtaposition.
- Arnt 2y agoWell, most people in the world see us as those nice well-behaved countries on the upper edge of the map, and ask about the midnight sun or something. Any other viewpoint is surprising to us. A viewpoint that confuses our reality with a nazi fetish is very surprising to us.
- pfannkuchen 2y agoYou don’t seem to understand what I am saying at all. No one has confused your reality with a nazi fetish.
- Arnt 2y agoI think I do. The upstream question was "how do nordic people feel about …" though. The nazis have their fetishes, we nordic people don't feel bothered about that. The image we perceive most people to have of us is completely unconnected to nazis.
