Yeah, and what about those dudes who drive trains. They call themselves engineers, too.
Call me crazy, but maybe it is one of those words where different industries have different meanings, and we need to understand context?
- rawgabbit 2y agoThe story I was told many years ago was that in the US, an engineer had to be licensed e.g., PE and therefore was considered respectable. In the UK, anyone could call themselves an engineer. (I don’t know if this is true or not). As software development is largely centered in the US, the title Software Engineer sounds more serious than Software Developer.
