National Security Just Called, They Can't See the Email Traffic
- unethical_ban 2y agoI'm getting an HTTP 418 accessing the site.
- hypeatei 2y agoAre you trying to brew coffee?
- quantified 2y agoNational Security called, you can't see the article.
- wffurr 2y agoSite just returns HTTP 418 "I'm a teapot".
- ihuman 2y agoIt only returns that if you click the link in HN. If you open a new tab and paste the URL, it works.

- miloignis 2y agoLooks like the HTTP 418 is due to the HN referrer header, copy-paste into a new tab worked fine.
- mgraybosch 2y agoIt could be worse. Have you seen what you get if you visit jwz.org with a HN referrer header? Not that I blame JWZ at all.
- wyldfire 2y agoLet's test it out: https://www.jwz.org/ https://www.jwz.org/ EDIT: I laughed.
- mgraybosch 2y agoSo do I, but a lot of people here don't care much for the notion that neither HN nor its parent company YCombinator are universally admired.
- unethical_ban 2y agoAh, so this is why I need to disable cross site referer info in Vanadium.
- poisonborz 2y agoThis was an open secret I saw mentioned a number of timed on forums of Hungarian internet in those years (secret services having black boxes plugged in to servers of ISPs). Open range times, before https was common.
- daft_pink 2y agowhy anyone thinks email is secure is beyond me.
