And before anyone says, "well you call everyone neo-nazis!" Erm, self-proclaimed neo-nazis. They call themselves that.

Your second example doesn't specify exactly how large the gathering was, but from the context of the article it sounds like it was maybe a dozen people. What threshold are you using for "much more common"?
