The hardcover edition of Jurassic Park explained, including screenshots of his IDE, how Dennis Nedry managed to shut off the park security: by disguising a call to the "turn off the fences" code as an innocuous object constructor. I've heard from Hackernews who read the book and didn't see the IDE screenshots. Maybe the paperback didn't have them.
