I made a big move back near family that was hugely professionally disruptive to me (although beneficial for my partner). As time has gone on I've started to realize being away from family was weighing on me far more than I was aware of, especially with a new child. Sometimes the move goes the other way. I have friends and extended family whose parents moved to be closer to them.
