Sometimes I like to think that these silurians stayed around, and decided to "civilize" us, not realizing that in the meantime we evolved intelligence that exceeds theirs beyond their comprehension. So they forced their civilization upon us, which they presumably consider highly advanced, but to us, it's nothing but primitivism repulsive to a healthy human.
