Thanks a lot for posting this. I am working on Chord Chart Memo [0] which is a tool for entering and transposing chord charts and this algorithm might come in very handy for naming the chords entered through the application. What we're doing right now is essentially a hard-coded database of chord names. Every single new chords requires a new entry into this database, which currently makes adding chords with many accidentals impractical. Your approach of tracking the accidentals separately to the database of chords seems very useful and it may allow me to add 'jazz chords' into the app!
