Ask HN: My Show HN post is not visible, unable to understand why?
- Bender 2y agoNew accounts will not be able to post certain domains and possibly also apex domains to avoid spam. If there is a specific URL / story / blog on that domain people may find interesting then submit that URL. It may still get automatically [dead] if the domain is either known to be spam, commercial solicitation, or otherwise problematic. Take a moment to read through the guidelines [1] and FAQ listed at the bottom of the page. There are many factors that determine if something is automatically [dead], most of which would not be disclosed or spammers will game them. For example, the apex domain you submitted is a commercial service (advertisement) for an AI business solution and would be considered spam. - samwise163 2y agoThanks. I went through the guidelines but I don't think I am violating any of them. I just wanted to show case my startup Trustty Reporter and provided a link to the home page.
- LinuxBender 2y agoI went through the guidelines but I don't think I am violating any of them. The link submitted is an advertisement for a business solution and is unlikely to be vouched by the members of this site. If your business has done something innovative and unique that others AI businesses have not, then consider having someone in your company do a technical write-up that goes into detail about the unique idea and submit the blog entry for people here to discuss. The author should be ready to answer a lot of questions from people here that find the unique innovation curious or interesting. If the article is just a longer advertisement for the business it is unlikely to show up.
- pvg 2y agoIt's a valid Show HN and I vouched it. I don't think it's a good Show HN but that's why we have voting (and not voting).
- samwise163 2y agoThanks. I looked a 5-10 Show HNs and based my write up on that. I am happy to answer detailed questions and write a technical write up as well. But we are not an open source project.
- pvg 2y agoThe thing to read is https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html and especially the linked https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22336638 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22336638
- pvg 2y agoIf you have questions about a post, email the mods at hn@ycombinator.com instead of creating a meta-post about it, that's in the site faq https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsfaq.html
- samwise163 2y agoAlready written to the mods as well, but I just didn't get an update on what exactly happened to my post, if it was deleted or if it was considered spam, hence ended up creating a meta-post.
- pvg 2y agoYou're probably not going to get an update in the middle of (California) Sunday night. Your post was almost certainly caught by the automating spam detector and was marked dead. It isn't now.
- samwise163 2y agoShouldn't that be mentioned in the guidelines as well that all moderators are based in California and you will only receive a response on the email between these hours? I don't think it is too much to ask. I also appreciate the vouch.
- pvg 2y agoI think not expecting immediate responses for support requests on a free website is the reasonable not-too-much-to-ask standard most people have settled on.
