The whole thing is bad. We're chimpanzees chained to desks and they're trying to figure out if it's the chair that's killing us.

- otabdeveloper4 2y agoHumans are nothing like chimpanzees physiologically. Homo sapiens has a semi-aquatic mammal build.
- popcorncowboy 2y agoYou are technically correct, the best kind of correct. (Dear GP, congrats on eliciting the quintessential HN comment response).
- sshine 2y agoDual-classing as a desk-like build, however, you lose your vitality buffs.
- tbrownaw 2y agoI am not a desk.
- TaylorAlexander 2y agoNot with that attitude.
- blitzar 2y agoIt's the only way to get through phase 3 or the uber boss fight.
- nusl 2y agoPerhaps we should transition to in-office swimming pools with floating desks
- 0x073 2y agoIf you can't work in home office the company workspace would look like in matrix :D .
- maguay 2y agoComedy Central landed on that solution six years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwQRXSvgm5o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwQRXSvgm5o
- nusl 2y agoI fear that it wouldn't work well in a British office due to the toaster limitation.
- burnt-resistor 2y agoIt's all about the toaster floating in the pool.
- euroderf 2y agoThe Floaster (TM) - New!... from Blammo!
- TomK32 2y ago"semi-aquatic mammal build" That's one way to insult someone as a stranded whale.
- fanf2 2y agoThe aquatic ape hypothesis is pseudoscience. Humans are adapted for long distance running and throwing.
- mancerayder 2y agoSo we need long distance running desks and mouse pointers that move with giant throwing motions.
- otabdeveloper4 2y ago> Humans are adapted for long distance running and throwing. That's a just-so story which is much more pseudoscience than the aquatic ape theory. Humans are shitty runners, we have a bipedal gait that isn't adapted to running. Paleolithic evidence shows ancient humans were habitual swimmers and divers. (Throwing and swimming use the same muscles in homo sapiens.) Homo sapiens isn't of course an "aquatic ape" (no such thing by definition), but that we always lived next to water and fished and dived for seafood is undeniable.
- cies 2y agoWho classifies us as such, because Wikipedia does not list us as semi-aquatic mammals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Semiaquatic_mammals https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Semiaquatic_mammals Nor it lists us in the semi-aquatic category: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiaquatic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiaquatic > Humans are nothing like chimpanzees physiologically. I think the non-humans animals that are most like us physiologically are: chimps, bonobos and orangutans. Saying that we are "nothing like chimps" is thus plain wrong.
- tigrezno 2y agoso we should work from a yakuzi!
- triceratops 2y ago> Humans are nothing like chimpanzees physiologically. Homo sapiens has a semi-aquatic mammal build. Looks at chimp. Looks at whale. Looks at dolphin. Looks at human. Scratches head like a confused ape.
- yencabulator 2y agoWhales and dolphins are not "semi-aquatic". Think more beaver and polar bear.
- triceratops 2y agoLooks at polar bear. Looks at beaver. Continues scratching head.
- otabdeveloper4 2y agoThe dolphin's skeleton is closer to the homo sapiens skeleton than a chimp's. We like chimps for their facial expressions, but their skeletons are nothing at all like a human skeleton.
- 2-3-7-43-1807 2y agonow working in home office I'm barely sitting for longer than half an hour except for meetings. even back in the gulag office i was walking around all the time.
