The problem is that Dems have lost Latinos due to culture and machismo and Gen Z men because they’re in a macro that inherently will be unkind to them and there is no way to fix on a 4 year election cycle (it’ll take at least a decade to improve housing costs with more units, improve economic security with unions and organizing to drag wages up, etc). Young women will remain liberal, young men will remain angry, what happens to Latinos will be a function of how effective the next admin’s deportation and denaturalization efforts are. There is very little good attempting to court the working class if they’ll vote their feelings over reality, unless you’re going to outright lie to them as has happened in this case. Defend and protect female reproductive rights where they still exist (so women aren’t imprisoned in unwanted parenthood for decades due to this short term political agenda), as well as vulnerable populations to the best ability, and stand back from the dumpster fire while it burns out. The next four years is harm reduction.

- techfeathers 2y agoOne sort of interesting thing about old folks is the generations are changing from silent/boomer to boomer/genx. Will be interesting to see if old=conservative or that actually we’ve just been dealing with 2 generations that were fundamentally conservative because of circumstance. I wonder if in fact the stagnation in Democrat leadership is from 80’s /90’s liberals becoming small c conservative and not wanting to lose the progress made. Like it seems interesting most 80’s/90’s free speech comedian / shock jocks still seem to be fundamentally liberal even though the younger generation of these are being turned conservative by the cultural environment.
