Show HN: A Cursor for Video Editing
Hey HN,
Imagine having a collaborative AI video editor that truly understands your video content, and can automatically apply edits based off what it sees and hears. Just tell it what you want and it'll do the rest for you. Not only that but it'll make its own suggestions for edits to you and provide opinions and analysis. This is our vision with Frame AI: for the first time ever, you can edit videos with simple natural language.
We will be opening up limited spots tomorrow. Join our early waitlist so we can share an invite with you!
We’d also love to hear any feedback, suggestions, or comments on what you’d like to see as we make this vision a reality.

- billconan 2y agoI confused this with https://frame.io/ https://frame.io/
- adishj 2y agoYou know, when we were looking for domains, we realized that that domain was taken and that they do "collaborative" video editing in the sense that they have people be able to review your edits and manage projects. But it's very different from what we're imagining when it comes to collaboration (We plan to have it be more git-like, with commits of atomic video operations). Frame.io is now owned by Adobe
- popalchemist 2y agoYou might want to consider a new name; inviting a lawsuit from Adobe could end your project. They have the cash to waste your resources infinitely.
- adishj 2y agoAccording to the acquisition document: https://www.adobe.com/content/dam/cc/uk/aboutadobe/newsroom/pdfs/Adobe%20to%20Acquire%20Frame.io-%20Media%20Alert%20.pdf https://www.adobe.com/content/dam/cc/uk/aboutadobe/newsroom/..., it looks like the copyright might be "frame.io" for Adobe's product. But it's a good point. If we ever get to the point that we'd be getting sued by Adobe, I'd honestly be just as happy as I'd be sad haha
- superfx64 2y agoA cursor for video editing is a super cool concept. Tons of video editors today are super complex with a ton of features, and I have a hard time actually building what I'm envisioning. Can't wait!
- adishj 2y agoThanks, we're super passionate about this project and one of the reasons we're building it is because of the steep learning curve of editors like DaVinci and Premier. If you'd like to try out the Alpha when it's ready, please join our waitlist at https://frameapp.ai/ https://frameapp.ai/ and I'll send you an invite as soon as it's ready!
- diamondfist25 2y agoi got davinci and i have no idea how to use it.
- adishj 2y agoExactly. Video editors like Davinci are so powerful but it's so hard to figure out how to do things, especially for beginners. Things are hidden behind menus, buttons, icons. To know how to do to something takes time Googling or nowadays asking ChatGPT. But if the AI is built into your editor itself and can see your video and control your editor, it can guide and determine your editing workflow by not only doing things, but SHOWING you how to do things
- ilrwbwrkhv 2y agoWhat is a "cursor". Like a new mouse cursor typing thing?
- adishj 2y agohttps://www.cursor.com/ https://www.cursor.com/ Cursor is a fork of VS Code which integrates an AI chat into your IDE itself. The AI has context of all your code files and you can highlight certain snippets and prompt the AI and do it all within your IDE without having to go to the browser and prompt and copy and paste. We are doing the same thing for video editing. An AI chat will be built into your video editing software, and will have context of your video. You will be able to highlight certain snippets of your video and prompt the AI, and it will be able to analyze and generate automatic edits based on your prompts.
- ilrwbwrkhv 2y agoOk Cursor is for very basic editing only. How does your product do with more complex edits?
- adishj 2y agoWe're working on releasing an Alpha by later tonight. With that, you'll be able to analyze videos, ask the AI for suggestions or opinions, add dynamic text overlays based on certain objects or audio detected in the video, and transcribe the audio into subtitles. For now, we're starting with basic adding text functionality and object/audio detection to prove to ourselves that this can work, but we plan to make Frame a feature-complete video editor with parity to things like K8ENlive or Davinci Resolve. If you'd like to try out the Alpha when it's ready, please join our waitlist at https://frameapp.ai/ https://frameapp.ai/ and I'll send you an invite as soon as it's ready!
