Rather than twist ourselves into knots trying to figure out what the intention of what the new administration is saying, how about we take them at their word. They already implemented massive tariffs during their first term, why should we assume they won't again when it was a core campaign promise?
- chiefalchemist 2y agoWhy not? For reasons I just explained. I'll add the if we're looking to politicians, government a/o campaign promises to be accurate, honest and believable then how do we explain the ACA not being affordable? Or The Patriot Act infringing on the rights and lives of law abiding citizens. I hear what you say about term 1, but I think that strengthens my wait and see, this is likely a negotiating tactic. Trump likes to deal - more than any recent POTUS /politician. He likea to "pivot"- again more than any recent resident of The WH. He has an ends in mind, promising big tarrifs to get that is part of his process. Note: I'm not defending his process, only mentioning/reminding it's not status quo POTUS.
