If deep sea divers need to come back to the surface slowly so their bodies can reacclimate to standard pressure, do astronauts undergo a similar reacclimation process as it pertains to gravity?
- echoangle 2y agoDivers need to decrease pressure slowly because it causes dissolved gases in the blood to become gaseous again, which can block blood vessels. I don’t see a mechanism for something similar with gravity. Otherwise fighter pilots would be dead with every flight. The only thing close is muscle loss, all other detrimental effects of zero g don’t really care if gravity returns fast or slow, I think.
